BMIR Community

The Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research has the mission to disseminate its research results as broadly as possible and to reach out to the scientific community. One important way in which we bring the community into our research enterprise is through our corporate affiliates programs. As outlined elsewhere in these pages, BMIR runs an active Biomedical Informatics Affiliates Program for companies who seek the latest information on BMIR’s applied research on the use of information technology to advance clinical care, biomedical research, and public health. BMIR also has a Protégé Training & Support Program to enable close interaction between the Protégé development team and companies interested in ontology management, intelligent systems, and Semantic Web applications. Both these programs lead to close working relationships between workers in industry and scientists at BMIR.

BMIR also conducts short courses to benefit our greater community, including one in the use of our Protégé technology.

Each year, through the Protégé Resource, BMIR organizes a conference for the Protégé user community, most recently in Budapest, Hungary in July, 2007.
